SSP activist shot dead
Unidentified assailants gunned down an activist of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) late on Monday night in the jurisdiction of Shah Qabool police station, police said. Police officer Latif told Daily Times that Hayat Khan was shot dead at around 2am outside his Nishtarabad house. He said police had registered a case on the widow’s complaint. According to police, the deceased had no previous enmity.

A few years ago, Hayat Khan was a suspect in DIG Farooq Hyder’s murder case, but was later acquitted by a court. Meanwhile, the NWFP government has tightened security in the wake of the Lal Masjid operation.
