Blast injures 3 PAF officials
A blast in the Banamarhi police precincts injured three Pakistan Air Force (PAF) personnel on board a PAF bus on its way to the Peshawar airbase on Monday, sources said. The bomb exploded at around 7:30am near the Gulshan Rehman colony, and injured Squadron Leader Mushtaq, Lance Nike Mohammad Ayaz and a driver, locals told Daily Times on condition of anonymity. PAF Deputy Spokesman Mohammad Tariq, however, said two PAF airmen had been injured. He said the blast was caused by a homemade-explosive device that had been planted in an uninhabited room on the roadside. He said the blast caused pieces of bricks to hit windows of the PAF vehicle, injuring two airmen. Tariq rejected reports that unknown people had hurled a grenade at the bus. He also refuted the reports that Mushtaq and Ayaz had been injured in the blast. ?PAF officials were not targeted. It was dynamite that exploded in an empty room,? he added. Banamarhi police officials told an entirely different story, saying that the locally made bomb went off at around 7:30am in uninhabited rooms near Gulshan Rehman colony. They said the blast injured two civilians on board a bus. ?We have confirmed that two civilians Mohammad Hussain of Kohat and Zainullah of Surezai in Peshawar have been injured in the blast,? Banamari Additional Muharar Halim said.
