Egyptian Court Overturns Sentence
An Egyptian appeals court overturned a one-year sentence handed down to a Libyan accused of attacking Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal at a Cairo hotel, court sources said yesterday. The Guizeh criminal court on Sept. 29 sentenced Mahmud Al-Beshir Ahmed, a 27-year-old businessman, to one year in prison for the attack. But the president of the Guizeh criminal appeals court, Judge Ahmed Hashem, quashed the sentence.
Apparently there was no reason for the judge to quash it — or Arab News doesn't give one...
