Aust peacekeepers arrest rebel militant in Solomons
Foreign Minister Alexander Downer has welcomed the arrest of a notorious militant figure in the Solomon Islands by Australian peacekeepers. Jimmy "Rasta" Lusibea was arrested at Honiara airport this afternoon after an investigation into the deaths of two local policemen last year. Mr Downer says Jimmy Lusibea has been responsible for much of the troubles in the Solomons in last few years and his arrest should give Solomon Islanders more confidence in their safety.Posted by: Fred Pruitt 2003-10-19 |
