Traditional Eid observances in Kashmir
Suicide attackers or fidayeens attacked a camp of India's key paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CPRF) camp in Srinagar, summer capital of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir Thursday evening. The CRPF camp where the attack took place is located at Boulevard Hotel near Srinagars Dal lake, the news agency Indo Asian News Service reported. The area surrounding the hotel was crowded with Eid shoppers when the attack took place, the news agency said. An encounter between the CRPF and the suicide attackers is on. The attack took place when Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was hosting an Iftar party at Srinagars Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre, nearly three kms away from the place of the attack.Posted by: Seafarious 2007-10-12 |
