Baghdad Police Find Car Bomb
Iraqi police found a car packed with explosives in the Iraqi capital and arrested a Syrian who confessed to having rigged it, Iraqi officials said Thursday. A few hours later, a roadside bomb was found near the same area in the city's Al-Doura district. The Americans blew up the car, a Toyota, and police and U.S. troops sealed off the area. Iraqi policeman Sahir Shakr said the car was discovered about 6 a.m. and the driver arrested. The roadside bomb was found later outside the nearby An-Nahada secondary school. The suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, told police he had been given money to do it, according to 2nd Lt. Mustafa al-Obeidi. Police said they had received a tip Wednesday night and put the area under surveillance.
"Hey! It ain't like I'm a terrorist or somethin'! I dunnit for the money!"
