Young woman dies in acid attack
 A housewife with acid burns succumbed to her wounds at her home in Gazipur's Baghalbari area yesterday after fighting for life for a month. Shiuli, 26, was burnt severely on the night of November 11 when her neighbour Abul Hossain and his associates threw acid on her following a trifle.She was immediately whisked to Gazipur Sadar Hospital from where doctors sent her to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Shiuli was, however, brought back home on December 1 as her family could not bear the cost of the treatment, said her mother, Monwara Begum, adding that the victim was again taken to a hospital on December 9 as her condition deteriorated. Monwara filed a case with Joydevpur police station on Sunday, accusing Abul Hossain, Abul Kashem, and 4 to 5 other unidentified men of the grisly attack. She said she did not lodge the case earlier because of threats from the accused. Police arrested Abul Kashem on Monday, but could not arrest Abul Hossain, the main accused, till last evening.
