JUP backs out from elections in protest
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) has announced to boycott the coming general elections in protest to the murder of Pakistan Peoples Party chairwoman Benazir Bhutto. In a joint press statement issued on Friday, JUP head Shah Muhammad Anas Noorani and secretary general Qari Muhammad Zawar Bahadar said the Liaqat Bagh tragedy was a conspiracy against the solidarity of Pakistan. The JUP will boycott the elections as a protest to this tragedy, they said.
