Car bomb attack in Algerian town
 A car bomb has exploded in the Algerian town of Thenia killing at least one person, security sources said. Several others were hurt in the attack outside a police station in the town, east of Algiers, though police stopped the vehicle from reaching the building. Police said the death toll was likely to rise as the blast caused major damage to the surrounding area. It follows a string of similar attacks last year claimed by radical Islamist group al-Qaeda in the Maghreb. At least 41 people, including 17 UN staff, died in two bomb attacks in Algiers in December.
