Top terrorist captured after shootout in Karachi
A top Pakistani terrorist, who has links with al-Qaeda, was injured and captured in a gun battle with security forces in this port city, a police official said on Wednesday. Qasim Toori, a key member of the outlawed Jundullah terror group who carried a reward of Rs five lakh on his head, was initially believed to have been killed in a fierce shootout with security forces that raided a militant hideout on Tuesday.
Qasim's a pretty tough boy. Yesterday he was dead in the same shootout.
Karachi's police chief Niaz Ahmed Siddiqi told a news conference that Toori and his accomplice Abid Ali were arrested from a building in the Shah Latif area where a group of militants had been holed up.

Siddiqi said three terrorists and two policemen were killed in on Tuesday's shootout. The terrorists were planning to carry out a "major action" in Karachi, he said.

There had been confusion over the casualties in on Tuesday's operation as security forces had fought two gun battles with the militants at two separate locations.
Ahah. That explains it. He was prob'ly killed in the other shootout.
Officials had said late last night that five militants were killed. The interior ministry had also announced that Toori was among the terrorists who were gunned down. Officials on Wednesday said police had mistaken one of the dead militants for Toori, who was actually injured.

Jundullah has been blamed for several attacks on security personnel, and Toori is believed to be the mastermind behind a 2004 attack on Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat, then the army's corps commander for Karachi.
