Long Lost State Dept. Weekly Report on Iraq
 I haven't read it in a while, either. My personal favorite snippet of news:The Washington Post reports that the U.S. program for granting Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) to Iraqi translators has fallen short of demand. The program initially covered 50 individuals in 2006, 500 annually for 2007 and 2008, and is scheduled to drop back to 50 in FY 2009. As of September 2007, 429 Iraqi translators (and their families) have been admitted to the U.S. under the SIV program. About 7,000 Iraqi interpreters have worked for U.S. forces since 2003. An amendment proposed by Senator Kennedy to the 2008 defense authorization bill would raise the SIV cap to 5,000 over the next five years.
