Pashtun force enters southern Afghanistan from Quetta
  • Late Wednesday, Afghan time, the Northern Alliance ambassador in Tajikistan said Kandahar had fallen to the opposition and tribal rebels. Gul Agha Sherzai, a former governor of Kandahar, has led a force of 1,000 men across the border from Quetta in an attempt to force the collapse of the Taliban. He is expected to try and join forces with Hamid Karzai.
