Military Plane With Iraqi Markings Lands In Venus (Florida)
Plane is a Cessna (see pic at link)
VENUS - A single-engine military airplane with Iraqi Air Force markings made an emergency landing on County Road 731 in Highlands County this afternoon, according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office. No injuries or damage to the plane were reported.

The plane had markings on it identifying it as belonging to the Iraqi Air Force, the sheriff's office confirmed.

The Department of Homeland Security said the plane was owned by a contractor working for the U.S. military and not by Iraq.
Some Iraqi military pilot cadets are getting some flight training in Florida, my guess.
A deputy will protect the plane until the contractor is able to dismantle it and recover it, said Sheriff Susan Benton. Benton wasn't sure if roads were closed, adding that the plane landed in a "very, very remote area of the county." "We've worked plane crashes before, but nothing that has started out as a military secret event, then turned into a military contractor testing out a plane," Benton said. "Early on there was a real scurry."

A single deputy continued to guard the plane by 9 p.m. as it sat on the west shoulder of the road. Sheriffs deputy Jacob Riley, who was there since 6 that evening, said he had a couple of passersby ask him about it.

Paper and silver foil covered several parts of the plane on its right side. The body of the plane had a marking "Y1 - 138."
Foil, he said. FOIL?!

In other news from the East Coast, a mysterious cylinder has crash-landed near Grovers Mill NJ.
