Six commanders, key militant among 11 held in Swat
Security forces on Monday arrested a key militant, Mirajuddin, at the Fiza Ghat checkpost outside Mingora city in Swat.
They also arrested 10 suspected militants including six key commanders of rebel cleric Mullah Fazlullah, in Bamakhela area of Matta tehsil. Mirajuddin was allegedly responsible for preparing both cars and suicide bombers for use in suicide attacks, an official source told Daily Times. The source said he was also wanted by security forces in connection with the beheading of six security officials in Charbagh area last year. Mirajuddin owned a workshop from where security forces had last month seized a car being prepared for a suicide attack, alongwith explosives, the official said.
He'll be let off. Not enough proof, even if it comes to trial. Remember, you need six adult Muslim men who're willing to swear they saw the whole thing. And give hostages. | In the second incident, which was confirmed by an ISPR statement, sources told Daily Times the 10 suspects had been moved to an undisclosed location for interrogations. The detainees also included notorious commander Khan Khitabs son. Khitab had declared himself as Matta governor before last years military operation in the valley.
I was gonna declare myself governor of Pennsylvania last year, but then somebody pointed out that you only do that sort of thing in a society that's on its way into the dark ages. So I put my plans on hold, reread Gregory of Tours, and next week I'm declaring myself mayor of Cleveland. |
