Bomb goes off on a bus seat in Poso, riot plan thwarted
A bomb has exploded in a religiously divided Indonesian district before the Christmas holidays but police said no one was hurt. A passenger spotted the bomb under a bus seat in the town of Poso in Central Sulawesi. The driver moved it to a field at Lembomawo village on the townâs outskirts but it exploded on Tuesday before a police bomb squad arrived. A policeman in duty in the town said there were no injuries and a nearby office building suffered only slight damage. "The bomb was aimed at provoking a riot in Poso," local police chief Abdi Dharma was quoted by the Jakarta Post as saying. Security officials are hunting gangs who have launched deadly attacks on non-Muslims in the district in recent months.
