Two children killed by grenade in Indian Kashmir
Two boys, aged five and 14, were killed Friday in revolt-hit Indian Kashmir when a hand grenade they mistook for a toy exploded, police said. The explosion took place in the remote Doda district in Indian Kashmir, where separatist Islamic rebels have been fighting New Delhi's rule since 1989.

The Muslim children's deaths came two days after Indian soldiers shot dead four rebels belonging to the pro-Pakistan Lashkar-e-Toiba militant group in the area. Police said they believed the rebel grenade had fallen to the ground during the clash and not exploded. "The children mistook the grenade for a toy and started playing with it," a police spokesman said, adding that ballistics experts were checking the area to find out if there were other unexploded grenades.
