UN envoy: Hezbollah's rockets a threat to Lebanese civilians
Terje Roed-Larsen, the UN envoy for the implementation of UNSCR1559, held a press conference on Thursday urging the Lebanese to avoid confrontation with an armed and dangerous Hezbollah militia.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged opposition groups in Lebanon to end blockades of roads and the airport, Larsen said. "We remain gravely concerned about the potential for further escalation of the situation," he told the U.N. Security Council at a briefing on the situation in Lebanon.
"The secretary-general urges all parties to cease immediately these riots and to reopen all roads in the country," he said, adding that Ban was concerned about the continued failure to elect a president in Lebanon.
Wonder if the March 14th faction decided to use this and the 'communications setup' at the Beirut airport to make their move? |
