'COAS not being replaced'
A presidential spokesman on Sunday rejected as fabricated and baseless the reports appearing in a section of the press that there was any move afoot to replace the chief of army staff (COAS). The spokesman said that such reports were designed to weaken relations between the Presidency and armed forces. The selection of a COAS is made on merit, the spokesman said, adding that President Pervez Musharraf firmly believed that the three-year tenure of the COAS office should never be violated.Posted by: Fred 2008-05-26 |
