Security forces detains 15 wanted persons, seize weapons in Basra
(VOI)-Iraqi security forces on Tuesday arrested 15 wanted persons and seized weapons in raid operations conducted in Basra, a police source said Interior Ministry forces working in Basra conducted raid-and-search operations in different parts of Basra, capturing 15 persons in a wanted list, a Basra security source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq(VOI).The source noted forces seized a Gluck pistol and an RPG launcher. Iraqi troops have carried out a search operation across Basra areas following clashes that erupted between government forces and militiamen loyal to Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr after PM Nouri al-Maliki announced a crackdown dubbed Saulat al-Fursan(The Knights Assault) on gunmen.
