Drunk women force plane to emergency landing
A plane made an emergency landing in Frankfurt after two drunk British passengers tried to open a door to get fresh air, German police said yesterday. The aircraft, which had taken off from the Greek island of Kos, was heading to Manchester on Thursday when it was forced to land, police said in a statement. The two women, aged 26 and 27, were arrested and later released.
The women had begun to get aggressive when cabin crew refused to serve them any more alcohol. The crew had also stopped them drinking from a bottle of alcohol that they had with them. The women became angry, attacking another passenger who they tried to hit with a bottle of vodka. They then tried to open one of the plane's doors to get fresh air, according to police. The plane was flying at an altitude of 10,000 metres (33,000 feet) at the time. The airline company, which was not named, wants the costs of the unplanned stopover reimbursed, police said.
