Chief of Kirkuk police escapes assassination attempt
 (VOI) -- The chief of the Kirkuk police survived an attempt on his life on Friday when an improvised explosive device went off targeting his motorcade in the southwestern part of the city, a security source said. "An explosive charge was detonated this evening near the Garage Baghdad in southwestern Kirkuk, while the motorcade of General Jamal Taher, the chief of the Kirkuk police, was passing," the source, who asked for anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq -- Voices of Iraq (VOI). "The general was not in the motorcade at the time of the explosion," he added. "The blast caused material damage to five cars, two of them are civilians," he also said.Posted by: Fred 2008-08-02 |
