Teacher gunned down in southern Thailand
A Muslim religious teacher was shot dead early Saturday, police reported, and have issued a warrant for the arrest of one of several bombers responsible for wounding nearly 20 persons in an explosion earlier this week, police said. Police said the 29-year-old victim was killed while he was driving a motorcycle in Raman district of the troubled southern province. Shot three times in his head and torso by two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle, he died at the scene, while the gunmen escaped, police said. Meanwhile, police in nearby Narathiwat province said a surveillance camera showed that not less than four persons were responsible for Thursday's bombing incident in which 17 persons, including a six-month-old girl and a 70-year-old man, were wounded. The bomb exploded at a market in Narathiwat provincial seat after the five-kilogramme bomb hidden inside a black motorcycle was detonated by cell phone.
