Militant commander, 2 farmers killed in IHK gunbattle
Indian troops shot dead a wanted Kashmiri rebel commander during a forest gunbattle that also left two Muslim farmers dead, police said on Sunday. The fighting took place overnight near Tangmarg, about 40 kilometres west of Srinagar, a police statement said. The area is at the foot of a mountain chain that marks the Line of Control, the heavily militarised de facto border that divides the Indian and Pakistani parts of the disputed Kashmir region.Posted by: Fred 2008-08-11 |
