Pakistan: Seven killed in a US air attack in tribal area
(AKI) - Seven people - including four children - were killed on Friday in an attack by an American spy plane in the tribal areas of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan.

According to a report by Pakistan's Geo News, a pilotless airplane launched three missiles on a home in the village of Gorovek in North Waziristan. Three women and four children were reportedly killed while several others were injured.

The attack is the second cross border raid by the US military this week and is certain to fuel the controversial debate about foreign military operations inside Pakistan. NATO helicopter gunships on Wednesday killed 20 people, including women and children, in an attack on a militant stronghold in the Angoor Adda area of South Waziristan, less than two kilometres from the Afghan border.

While the Bush administration declined to comment officially, anonymous officials confirmed that the United States was behind the attack and might conduct similar raids in future if it had "actionable intelligence" about the presence of Al-Qaeda or the Taliban.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Mehmood Qureshi, called Wednesday's attack shameful and the government summoned the US ambassador to lodge a strong protest.
