Tribesmen kill six Taliban over attempted kidnap
Members of the Gujar Tribe claimed on Friday to have killed six militants following the attempted kidnap of one of the tribe's spiritual leaders. "The Taliban attempted to kidnap a local fortune-teller, which sparked clashes," witnesses said. Tribesmen also set fire to the militants' explosives-laden vehicle, and clashes continued in the Mandal Dagh area in Matta tehsil, a stronghold of the militants in Swat. Four members of the tribe died during the clashes. A mortar shell killed a man and his daughter in Akhun Killi, while militants killed PPP local leader Waqar Ahmed in the village.
