190,000 Muslims pray at al-Aqsa in Jerusalem
More than 190,000 Muslims prayed in Jerusalem's flashpoint al-Aqsa mosque on the last Friday of Ramadan amid tightened security in the Holy City, Israeli police said. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said there had been no major incidents but that security forces would remain on high alert for Lailat al-Qadr (Night of Revelation), a Muslim holiday in which many believers pray through the night. The holiday is celebrated near the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which devout Muslims all over the world fast from dawn to dusk. Al-Aqsa mosque - - Islam's third holiest site - has been a major flashpoint in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and was the site of the outbreak of the latest Palestinian uprising in 2000.
