Chaman border crossing closed
The Pak-Afghan border at Chaman has been closed because of security concerns, Balochistan Frontier Corps Inspector General Major-General Saleem Nawaz said on Saturday. He told the media that entry to Afghanistan from the villages surrounding Chaman including Kali Luqman, Kali Abdul Karim and Kali Faizabad had been banned. He said all passes allowing crossings had been cancelled, to stop people from crossing the border. However, anyone with a visa can enter Afghanistan through the Pak-Afghan Friendship Gate, he added. Vehicles entering and leaving the border area are also being thoroughly searched, he said. United States-led NATO forces have boosted their strength by deploying more troops in the Afghan areas adjacent to Balochistan. Source said a massive operation is on the cards against the Taliban in Afghan areas near Zhob and Qila Saif Ullah.
