Arms seized after Taliban revolt in Timergara jail
Prison guards seized grenades and handguns from Taliban after they revolted in the Timergara district jail in Lower Dir on Thursday. Four policemen made hostage were rescued, said Lower Dir police chief Fida Hussain Shah. He said that nine hand grenades, 37 pistols and 14 mobile phones were seized. "Had we not opened fire they would have broken out," prison official Mumtaz Burney told AP, adding an investigation was under way to find out how the weapons were smuggled into the prison.
