Senator DeMint fined by Federal Election Commission
The Federal Election Commission says U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint's campaign has agreed to pay $25,000 in fines for accepting donations that exceeded the legal limit. Documents recently released from the federal agency show the South Carolina Republican's campaign committee accepted 42 donations over the $2,000-per-person limit.
