Mumtaz Bhutto arrested over newspaper office attack
Police on Saturday arrested former Sindh chief minister and Sindh National Front (SNF) Chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto for his alleged involvement in attacks on a Sindhi language newspaper's offices. Bhutto was arrested from his house in Mirpur Bhutto in district Larkana, and was later flown to Karachi via Sukkur. His son and SNF Vice-chairman Ameer Bux Bhutto condemned the arrest, calling it political victimisation. The SNF vice-chairman called for a strike in the province on Sunday. He was shifted to the custody of Karachi police. Police sources said Ayub Shar and Allah Wario Soomro, Bhutto's co-accused, were arrested from Sukkur airport. Posted by: Fred 2009-01-04 |
