Local Taliban offer conditional support to jirga in FATA
Local Taliban from tribal agencies bordering Hangu district on Monday offered conditional support to a peace jirga -- established by the district administration -- in checking the rising number of kidnappings and Taliban activities in the district. Talks between the 25-member jirga and Taliban leaders from Orakzai, Kurram and Khyber agencies -- led by Hakimullah Mehsud -- were held at an undisclosed location. The head of the jirga, Qazi Rehman, told journalists later that the talks with the local Taliban were held in a 'very pleasant atmosphere'.
