Portugal seizes 7.7 tons of North African hashish
 Portuguese police say they have captured more than 7.7 tons (7 metric tonnes) of hashish from Morocco with an estimated street value of more than euro70 million (US$91 million). Six men of British, Belgian and Moroccan nationalities are under arrest. Police said in a statement Tuesday they netted the drug in a series of coordinated operations over three days beginning last weekend. Five boats carrying the hashish were seized in Lisbon and in the southern Algarve region. Police say the arrested men are suspected of belonging to an international drug-smuggling ring.Authorities say the Iberian peninsula is a main entry point to Europe for North African hashish.
