Western Algeria car crash uncovers 116 smuggled mines
Algeria's National Gendarmerie thwarted an attempt to smuggle 116 anti-personnel mines Monday (March 23rd) in Tlemcen, Echorouk reported. After responding to a high-speed car crash, officers uncovered the ordnance hidden inside a wrecked Audi. The mines were allegedly bound for al-Qaeda workshops, where TNT would be extracted for manufacturing explosives and suicide belts.
