Man commits suicide after incest conviction
A 60-year-old man shot and killed himself on Wednesday after a court sentenced him to eight years in prison for raping his daughter. The Airport Police Station had earlier booked Muhammad Bashir on charges of raping his daughter, Sajida Parveen. The Rawalpindi district and sessions judge had exonerated Mr Bashir, but his daughter filed an appeal in the Federal Shariat Court against the decision. A Federal Shariat Court division bench accepted Ms Parveenâs application and sentenced Mr Bashir to eight yearsâ rigorous imprisonment. After the verdict was announced, Mr Bashir asked the court to allow him to go to the bathroom, where he shot and killed himself.
