Pakistan likely to offer intelligence-sharing to India
YEKATERINBURG: Islamabad is expected to suggest an intelligence-sharing mechanism with its top investigators to New Delhi in the first meeting of both countries leaders since the Indian government suspended dialogue following the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
| The idea is that India shares useful intelligence so that the Paks can find their weak spots and leaks, and fix them. Pakistan in turn gives India a bunch of nonsense. |
President Asif Ali Zardari and Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh are set to resume formal bilateral contact on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Indian Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon told reporters. However, official sources said this was merely an opportunity to convey the Indian governments concerns to Pakistan at the highest level. They said the meeting was organised after the Pakistan high commissioner in India expressed President Zardaris wish to meet Dr Singh. They said the Indian PM would call upon the Pakistani leadership to take credible action against terrorism. Dialogue was being resumed in line with Dr Singhs vision of maintaining cordial relations with all of Indias neighbours, they added.
