Al-Qaeda claims Algeria attacks
[Maghrebia] In a statement posted on an Islamist website on Thursday (August 6th), al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb claimed to have perpetrated 21 attacks on Algerian security forces in Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Tipaza, Jijel, Skikda, Batna and Khenchela since June 2nd, Tout sur l'Algerie reported, The terrorist group also said it was responsible for the murder of American NGO worker Christopher Leggett in Nouakchott on June 23rd. In related news, Leggett's widow and parents held a press conference on Thursday (August 6th) to thank Mauritanian authorities for the recent arrests of the three suspected killers, AP reported.
