Israel to sell Spyder missiles to India
Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has signed a $ 1 billion deal to sell surface-to-air missiles to the Indian Armed Forces. Under the deal, Israel will supply India with 18 Spyder mobile missile systems by 2012, Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday. In 2008, Israel took over from Russia as the main weapons exporter to India. The self-propelled missile could be launched within two minutes after a target is declared hostile by the system. According to the Times of India, the deal has been held up for several months due to allegations that Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael had given kickbacks to officials in New Delhi.
