U.S. soldier dies in mortar attack in Iraq
BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The U.S. military says an American soldier has been killed in a mortar attack at Baghdads Camp Liberty, the first U.S. casualty in October, the U.S. army said on Friday.A Multi-National Corps-Iraq Soldier was killed in an indirect fire attack on Camp Liberty on Thursday (Oct. 1), the U.S. army said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The incident is currently under investigation, it added. The death raises to 4,348 the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, including 128 in 2009.
