Authorities Detain Three Pakistanis Freed From Gitmo
Authorities have detained all three Pakistanis who returned home this week after being freed by the United States from its detention facility at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, Pakistanâs Interior Ministry said Wednesday. Snicker The three men were included among more than 50 Pakistanis who were captured in Afghanistan during the U.S.-led war after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. U.S. authorities later transferred the men to Guantanamo Bay to investigate their links with al-Qaida. In the past two years, U.S. authorities have released about two dozen Pakistanis, the last three on Monday. Reached their expiration date. Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Rauf Chaudhry said the three Pakistanis are facing questioning. "We will not release them immediately," he told The Associated Press.
