Motorcycle bomb kills soldier in southern Thailand
Suspected Islamist terrorists insurgents set off a bomb hidden in a motorcycle in Thailand's troubled south Sunday, killing a soldier and wounding six other people, police said. The device, containing an estimated five kilograms (11 pounds) of explosives and believed to have been detonated by mobile phone, blew up in front of a second-hand shop in Narathiwat province, they said.
Six soldiers sitting in a nearby pick-up truck during a patrol were wounded and one later died in hospital. A Muslim street vendor was also hurt, said police.
