NGO warns of extreme famine in N. Korea, urges aid
So that the 'Army First' policy can, well, feed the army first ...WASHINGTON, March 4 (Yonhap) -- A nongovernmental relief group Thursday called on the U.S. and South Korean governments to resume food aid to North Korea to help ease the worst food shortage there since the 1990s, when at least 1 million people are said to have starved to death. "We've heard that some people have starved to death in Shinuiju City, which borders China, where no deaths from starvation were reported in the 1990s," said the Venerable Pomnyun, chairman of the relief organization, the Peace Foundation and Good Friends.
