Benazir's security was govt's responsibility: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik, who was the security adviser to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, said on Saturday that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) did not have its own security and as such, the responsibility of providing security to the slain prime minister fell on the government of former president Pervez Musharraf. Talking to visiting Indian journalists in the federal capital, when asked about the UN report into Benazir's assassination, the interior minister said, It is totally irrelevant as to whether the PPP had the required security on the day of her assassination or not. The only thing the party workers could do was act as human shields which they did.' He said the government was examining the UN fact-finding commission's report, adding that the government was committed to bring former premier Benazir Bhutto's killers to justice.
