Police detonate bomb, find cache in Kirkuk
KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Policemen found on Monday an explosive charge and ammunitions cache which belongs to the former Iraqi army in two separate areas in southern Kirkuk, a source from the joint coordination center said.
A police patrol found on Monday (May 17) an explosive charge in Mafraq Doumiz region behind al-Sulaimaniya restaurant in southern Kirkuk,' the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The forces rushed to the region and managed to detonate the bomb without damage,' he added.
Another police force found a stockpile of ammunitions left by the former Iraqi army near Yehyawa village in Lilan district, south of Kirkuk,' the same source said.
Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
