9/11 convict set free
THE only suspect ever convicted for his work in the September 11 attacks has been freed by a Hamburg court. Lawyers for Mounir El Motassadeq said he had been freed after his guilty verdict on charges of aiding the suicide pilots was thrown out last month, The 30-year-old has been serving a maximum 15-year prison term in Hamburg since a court in the city convicted him in February 2003 of giving logistical help to the Hamburg al-Qaeda cell that included three of the September 11 pilots.
