Aussie judge tells woman she can't wear veil
An Australian Muslim woman, sought consent to keep her face and head covered while appearing as a witness at an upcoming trial on Thursday and was denied the permission by the judge. Western Australia state District Court Judge Shauna Deane ruled on Thursday that it would be inappropriate for the woman to be completely veiled, as the jury should not be impeded in its ability to assess her demeanor. She is a prosecution witness in a case against the director of a company, Anwar Sayed, that ran a Muslim women's college in Perth.
