Former police detective Desmond Campbell has been jailed for at least 24 years for pushing his new bride over a cliff in the Royal National Park south of Sydney. Sentencing Campbell today, Justice Megan Latham said his wife of six months, Janet, had "died in a strange place far from her family, her friends, and her community." She handed the 52-year-old a non-parole period of 24 years, saying he had shown no remorse or contrition that could have counted in his favour in consideration of the length of the sentence. They like their money and they like their mates. Yes, this guy is extreme but try getting a 50-year-old man for a date if you are a good looking, slim, fit 48 or 50-year-old woman in Australia.
