17 Die in Northern Mexico

A total of 17 individuals were killed in ongoing drug and gang related violence in northern Mexican states including a married couple shot in an home invasion in Juarez, Chihuahua, and an armed robber shot while trying to elude police in Torreon, Coahuila.

  • Two unidentified men were murdered in two separate crimes in Juarez, Chihuahua, Sunday according to the Mexican dailyLa Polaka. The first victim was found on Kilometer 25 on the Juarez-Casa Grande highway, where he has been severely beaten to death. The second crime took place near the intersection of calles Zaragoza and Jose Sanchez in the Juarez Nuevo district. Sergio Dominguez Juarez was shot nine times with a 9mm weapon.

  • A woman in her 20s was found dead in an abandoned car in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Sunday afternoon, say Mexican news reports. Beatriz Elena Gaxiola Reichel, 27, was found near the intersection of calles Garcia Salinas and Eucalipto in the Granjas district. She had been reported missing the Friday before.

  • Three unidentified young women were murdered Sunday in Juarez in
    two separate crimes, according to the Mexican daily La Polaka. One woman in her early 20s was found shot to death on calle Fernando Borreguero near the Parque Omega. Two women in their 20s were found shot to death near the intersection of calle Allende and the Viaduct in the Aldama district.

  • An unidentified man was shot to death in Juarez at noon Monday, according to Mexican press reports. The attack took place near the intersection of calles Sorgo and Linaza in the Angel Trias district where the victim and an assistant were washing the victim's car. A group of armed suspect shot the pair killing one and wounding the other. Investigators at the scene found spent cartridge casings from two different firearms.

  • An unidentified married couple were shot to death in Juarez Monday afternoon, according to Mexican news sources. The attack took place near the intersection of calles Rio de la Plata and Avenida Lopez Mateos in the Cordova Americas district, where armed suspects dismounting from a Toyota Tundra broke into the home and shot the couple to death. Their two year old daughter was not harmed in the shooting.

  • Three unidentified individuals were found shot to death early Wednesday mooring in Nogales, Sonora, according to Mexican news reports. The discovery was made on Calles Bustamente near an industrial facility and kindergarten where police were alerted to go by an anonymous tip. Police found dozens of spent cartridge casings at the scene.

  • One armed suspect was killed, and a second wounded and arrested in an armed robbery in Torreon, Coahula Sunday afternoon, according to Mexican news accounts. Coahuila state police intercepted the suspects who fled after holding up a business called El Naranjal in a Nissan sedan. The suspects fired on the police who then returned fire near the intersection of calle Prolongación Colón and calle Treviño in the Antigua Aceitera district. One unidentified suspect was hit by gunfire, so apparently the standoff ended with his and his accomplice's arrest. The wounded suspect died on the way to eceiving medical attention. In the Nissan sedan police found three weapons and an amount of cash.

  • An unidentified man was found dead in Torreon Sunday afternoon, say Mexican news accounts. The victim was in a state of decomposition when he was found near the intersection of Bulevar Revolución and Calle 21st. Reports do not say how the victim died.

  • A young gang member assisting 15 of his fellow gang members in attacking and robbing a man died of a stab wound Saturday evening, say Mexican news accounts. The accused in the killing, Pedro Garcia Lucio, 35, was quoted saying he was only defending himself in the attack. Luis Alberto Medrano Carrillo, "The Louse", 29, died of wounds he received when he and 15 other young men attacked and robbed Lucio Saturday night near the intersection of calles Kuwait and Golfo Persico in the Nueva Jerusalen district. Medrana Carrillio was stabbed in the neck and died a short time later.

  • Two men were shot to death and four other members a family were wounded by a detachment of the Mexican Army in Monterrey early Monday morning, say Mexican press accounts. Reports say the family riding aboard a Chevrolet Malibu ran a stop sign near the intersection of the Monterrey-Laredo highway, between the Libramiento Noreste and the highway to Santa Rosa in the Apodaca municipality. Failing to stop when signalled, the car apparently ran prompting a chase and soliders to fire on the vehicle. All six passengers were hit by gunfire from the army.
