Times Square Fizzle-bomber sentenced to life
Faisal Shazad was sentenced to life in prison today by U.S. District Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum, the mandatory sentence with no possibility of parole. He had previously pled guilty to the charges around building and setting off a VBIED in New York City's Times Square on May 1st. He claimed that the bomb was sanctioned by the Koran-given right of defence. He also told the judge in response to her question that when he swore the oath of allegiance to the U.S. as a newly minted American citizen, the clever lad didn't mean it. "So you took a false oath," was the judge's reply.
