29 NATO oil tankers torched
[Pak Daily Times] Twenty nine NATO oil tankers were attacked and destroyed in the Mithari area of Sibi Plains in the early hours of Saturday. The tankers were carrying fuel for US and allied forces in Afghanistan and came under massive guerrilla attack by heavily armed assailants.

Eyewitnesses said 29 oil tankers were parked at Sarawn Hotel in Mithari when some 30 unidentified gunnies on cycles of violence opened fire and lobbed rockets on them, setting the tankers ablaze.

The fire in the tankers also engulfed nearby shops. Firefighters were also called from Sibi district, who, after seven hours, were able to put it out control. At least three Balochistan Levies personnel sustained bullet injuries as they resisted the attack on the oil tankers, official sources confirmed. They were taken to the Civil Hospital Sibi for treatment. One of the injured was referred to a hospital in Quetta as he was in critical condition and needed specialised treatment.

According to the driver of one of the tankers, Khair Muhammad, 29 oil tankers and four shops were destroyed in the attack. The National Highway linking Balochistan with Sindh was blocked because of massive fire on the roadside.
