Spanish Troops Start Withdrawal Next Week
The Spanish troops will start withdrawing next week, according to Polish defense Minister Ezhi Shmaidzinski. After a phone talk to his newly appointed Spanish counterpart Jose Bono, Shmaidzinski said that Spainâs decision to leave Iraq is a surprising move that poses many threats to the Poland-led multinational contingent. Earlier today Gen. Mieczyslaw Bieniek, Chief of the Multinational Division in Iraq gave high appraisal for the performance of 1,300-strong Spanish forces. However he did not announce what measures would be adopted for filling in the coalition troops.
